          1. Does the AHPPKIT protect my outside spigots?  

Yes and no; if and where piping that is protected by an AHPPKIT splits off to a spigot, from that point to the spigot would not be protected.  For this reason, we do sell Freeze Miser fittings to protect your outside spigots. 

            2. Can I install the AHPPKIT myself or do I need a plumber to install?

AHPPKIT was designed so that anyone with minimal mechanical skills can install it.  If you know how to work a crescent wrench, screwdriver and drill you should have no problem.  

            3. Which water lines should I be concerned about protecting with an AHPPKIT?

We suggest protecting lines that are run in your exterior walls, and also protecting the lines in your attic by installing an AHPPKIT on the furthest user from the homes water supply line entry point.

            4. Can I purchase one AHPPKIT and use it in two separate locations?

Each of our AHPPKITs come with only 1 automated valve and controller and are designed to protect water lines with stop valves that are located near each other.

            5. What type of connections does AHPPKIT connect to at my existing stop valves?

Our kits are designed to be attached to stop valves with 3/8" compression connections.  We also sell a conversion kit in the case that you have older style stop valves with 3/8" flare connections.

           6. Can I purchase one AHPPKIT now and add onto my home system in the future?

Yes             

             7. Is there any maintenance I need to do once the AHPPKIT is installed?

Once the system is installed and the controlling parameters are set up in your smartphone APP you do not have to maintain anything. 

             8. What pressure and temperature is the system rated for?

Remember that AHPPKIT's are only designed to be installed in cold water or combined cold and hot water lines (not hot water only lines).  Line component design Pressure / Temperature:  150psi @ 70F.    Hot water line component design Pressure / Temperature: 120psi @ 150F. 

             9. Do you offer any other home protection systems?

AHPPKIT.com currently offers only kits and some additional products for protecting you homes water pipes. 

            10. How long does it take to install an AHPPKIT?

If you have basic mechanical skills, you should be able to install a 2-water line protection kit (ex. single vanity) in 30 - 45 minutes.

            11. If I’m selling my house and the buyer is getting an inspection, will my AHPPKIT system pass inspection?

Ultimately It depends on how you, as the DIY installer, choose to tie into your drain.  You will need to check your local codes if you are concerned about meeting code.     

            12. If I move out of my house, can I disconnect and take the system with me to my new home?

Yes.

            13. Is the AHPPKIT system patented?

At this time, AHPPKIT is Patent Pending.

            14. How much does an AHPPKIT system cost?

Each home's water lines are configured differently so it depends on how many AHPPKIT's you install.  The goal is to have water flowing in all your vulnerable water lines during freezing conditions, so a home may need more than one AHPPKIT.   But as an example; if your home required 3-AHPPKIT's to protect the water lines running in exterior walls to 1-Washing machine, 1-Sink with dishwasher, and 1-toilet, the total cost for AA battery operated kits would be $ 942.42 which includes the system base kit (wireless hub and temperature sensor).  This is a very minimal cost when compared to the average frozen water pipe disaster of $ 27,000, or even your homeowner's insurance deductible.

            15. How much water is purged and how much would this increase my water bill? 

It depends on how long you are in freezing conditions and how many kits you have installed in your home. However, using the example above of 3 AHPPKIT's and assuming you were in freezing conditions for 10 full 24-hour days of the winter season (240 total hours of system activation) there would be approximately 3,425 total gallons of water purged for the entire year.  At water & sewer cost of $0.006 per gallon, this would increase your water bill by $20.55 for the entire year.  

            16. Are there any subscriptions or other fees I will have to pay for?

No other costs involved.

            17. What happens if power or internet goes out?

The AHPPKIT system is battery operated but If Power goes out to the wireless system hub, the valves remain in whatever mode of automation it was in when the power went out.  When the power and or internet is restored, the hub will once again read the automated setting parameters and update the valve conditions if needed.   In addition, the automated valve has a manual override knob so the valve can be opened or closed manually if needed.

            18. How long do the batteries last?

Temperature sensor 3-years, Lithium valve controller 10-years, AA valve controller 2-years.  The phone APP monitors remaining battery life and batteries are replaceable when needed.

            19. Why wouldn’t I just leave faucets dripping when it freezes, or drain the home piping system and save myself the cost of buying an AHPPKIT?

While you could do that, and many people attempt to solve freezing pipes this way, however this doesn't always solve the problem: Consider forgetting to do so, being out of town, sleepless nights, wrapping pipes, O-ring leaks, cartridge replacements, sediments in lines and clogged Aerators, cost of additional wasted water, as well as the hassle of doing this each and every year.   There’s a value to be put on the peace of mind of a “set-it and forget it” automated system that you don’t have to maintain every time a freeze warning is issued, especially for individuals with multiple homes or rental properties. 

            20.  Is the AHPPKIT product Warranted?

Any defective part can be returned for a replacement for 30 days.

            21. What happens if I lose my phone or APP?

Just redownload the APP on your new device and re-connect each device and reprogram the automation.  

           22. Do you have installation instructions?

Yes, we will send you written installation instructions and video links with your purchase.
